What did you get for Christmas?

I got a copy of Steve Parrish's Home before daylight which I read cover to cover on boxing day. At first it was very interesting and gave a fascinating insight into a lifestyle most of us can only dream about. After a while though I found it started to get a bit repetetive with each chapter detailing yet another drug frenzy or sexual encounter where i'm sure so much more could have been said - perhaps the sex and drugs were the only parts steve could really remember ;-)
Another present which has hardly been out of the DVD player is Joni Mitchell's 'Shadows and light' which shows jaco at his best in what surely must be one of the finest lineups ever to hit the stage.
Of course, I'm still eagerly awaiting my main present.
Sandra J was absolutely delighted with her Buckeye Burl wooden box. It now takes pride of place on the mantlepiece where it's a talking point for any visitors.

so what bass related presents did everyone else get?

Shadows and Light is very good!  I wish there was a Weather Report video of this quality.

For those of you searching in vane, that's Parish with one r; the book is about his experiences working with Garcia and the Dead.

jacko

Oops, My spelling mistake ;-(  So what did santa claus bring you anyway?

Live in concert sometime in the late 90's in Europe, 3-DVD's, Marcus Miller, Mark King and Tower of Power.  And last but not least is Steely Dan's DVD of 2 Against Nature.  Not only are they tight, but they make it look effortless.

Funny how Santa like the same music that I do; hummm.

Good health, happiness and prosperity to all my low frequency friends.

I resolve to play more and worry less!

I play the Marcus Miller DVD a lot.  It's a great band.

Sounds like one I'll have to get. I've really liked marcus' stuff since i first got into Miles around about the tutu era.

One sister gave me a year subscription to Bass Player magazine.  Thanks sis.

Given the question of Brother Graeme now we all have to gather around the open fire and listen to Brother Dave explaining how his new snow shoes are related to bass-playing?

My dear wife gave me a Jaco DVD also. It's his instructional video. Instructional, yeah right, maybe some of you guys can keep up with him not me.
She also threw in a Korg DTR-1000 tuner and a Furman RP-8L power conditioner.
What a woman!

Brother Paul, if it makes you feel better she didn't get me the Gallien-Krueger stack that was on my list. But I have to say I was blessed big time with this one.  BTW did you get the email I sent you? My Outlook was acting like it didn't believe me when I told it your address had changed.

palembic

Nope ...hang on ...I'll try yours!!

I went to the Mpls. show with that lineup - Joni Mitchell 'Shadows and Light' Tour. WOW!! I kept sneaking down to the front of the stage, and security kept sending me back to my seat. Security wasn't as tight in those days. Truly inspirational concert! Jaco wore a full jumpsuit with matching headband. I sent a note to him backstage, but he never came out or got it.
