Hey guys, I stumbled across this looking for a strap for my new addition, and I'm thinking about BIN, and having ALEMBIC spelled out on it.

Do you think that would be snooty, or a classy touch?  As a musician or as a spectator at a show?

Mwah ha!  How 'bout that?  Guess I should have looked at the source.

;)

All the wide straps say they're out of stock.  What do you think would match Zebrawood?

Jeff just posted as you were making your last post that there is a new shipment of straps on order.  So you may want to wait and see what they get in.

Allison (Moody Straps) has gone big time and raised her prices, so expect the Alembic prices to go up accordingly.  Nevertheless, her straps are still the nicest, most supple, softest, well made straps I've seen.

As do I. Only Moody's for my Alembics.

I'm still trying to decide on that or a Talkbass clef note strap.  I'd like to find something that will complement the zebrawood...  Call me picky, but over $100 for a strap, it better be exactly what I want.

Yeah, I realized after I posted that Jeff posted just before me.  Weird.

Tim:

Personally, with something as out front as Zebrawood, I'd go for a subtle strap, one that matches either the light parts or the dark parts, but doesn't fight the bass for attention.  Zebrawood is very dramatic.  I say, let it have the spotlight all to itself.  As for Moody, you won't be disappointed.  To quote one reviewer, the supple leather feels as if it was tenderly broken in by Victoria Secret models bathed in scented oils.

If you find one strapped on a Victoria's Secret model, I'll take it, BIN you name the price.

(It does come with the model, right?)

:D

Otherwise, I'm going to continue looking.  TalkBass' straps are also Moodys, so I'm going to have to decide whether I want the clef or the Alembic logo on it... Decisions, decisions...

I love my strap from them. Like fine saddle leather with wonderful brass hardware.

I must concur with Jonathan. I have an Eyeland X-Tra Clef strap, and it's the most wonderful strap I've found. The 4' wide, padded strap takes a BUNCH of perceived weight off of the shoulder and neck. Besides that, they are well made, soft, gorgeous, and they'll make them with a lot of options of your choice ( sorta like our friends here do :D !!
Have fun, Mike, tho

I think I'll be ordering the X-tra clef strap myself, brown pad with black leather strap, brass rings...  Right after I get my tax return.  That, and two cabs, and my money's wisely spent.

For now I've strapped on a decent Guitar Center strap - not particularly great, but better than the nylon crap I had on.  You'll see it when I post my cleaning pics.
