I have just launched Basscast, the podcast for bass players and lovers of the bottom end.

Each edition has news about bass oriented gear, CDs, DVDs, books. There's also a feature CD and tribute to an influential player.

Basscast 1 features Victor Wooten and Charles Mingus.
Basscast 2 features Glenn Hughes and Flea (and is co-hosted by regular TBer Petebass).
There is more episode information at: http://basscast.libsyn.com

The easiest way to subscribe is:
1. Download iTunes 4.9 from Apple, if you don't have it already.
2. Click on Podcasts at the right side.
3. Click on Advanced on the menu bar.
4. Click on Subscribe and copy this into the dialogue box:

Feedback, news items and show suggestions will be appreciated.

Hey David,

Nice Podcast.  I am about 10 minutes into Basscast 2.  Very cool!  I look forward to future episodes.

Thanks.

Basscast 3 will be out soon. The feature CD is Silver Rain by Marcus Miller. Step back in time is Word of Mouth by Jaco.

Basscast 4 will feature Ohmwork by G/Z/R (Geezer Butler). SBIT will be Zappa's Bottom - Part 1. The first part in a series on Zappa's bassists. Any preferences where we start?

Woo hoo.  Marcus Miller!  I was fortunate to see him in Aspen a month ago.  Very cool!

Thanks again for the cool service.

Tom Fowler it shall be. The segment is being hosted by Dave Marshall, bass player in Petulent Frenzy an awesome band that plays only Zappa material. They are the real deal with xylophone / marimba, horns etc.

Basscast 4, with a feature on Tom Fowler's work with Zappa, will be up on August 13.

Basscast 4, with the promised Tom Fowler feature is up. The segment is presented by the bassist from an awesome band dedicated to recreating Zappa's material. They've got the full monty - orchestral percussion, sax, violin, etc.

Since I suggested TF I will acknowledge listening to Basscast 4 this morning. Enjoyed it immensely.
