Anyone seen this track yet?

Isolated audio track of bassist John Entwistle playing Won't Get Fooled Again, filmed for The Kids Are Alright documentary, Shepperaton Studios, London 1978.

No mistaking the sound of that bass!

FC Bass

It's a feature on the special edition double DVD of The Kids Are Alright.
Baba O'Riley is also featured as Isolated track.
On the DVD you can choose between camera angles and switch audio tracks to hear the whole band or the Isolated bass tracks

THAT is the sound!  Thanks for posting.  Great stuff.

It's a superb bit of filming. Infact, I can't find anything to complain about on the whole of the special edition dvds ;-)

Now for the heresy. One of our tv channels the other night played the kids are alright followed by a showing of 'the who live in boston' which I think is also available on DVD. It's not one I'll be shopping for. Without J.E. or keith moon, the band sounded very lacklustre. As good as pino palladino is, when I shut my eyes there was no way on earth I could imagine it was john playing. There just didn't seem to be any energy in the entire nights performance. Maybe townsend should have folded the band when moon died like Zeppelin did. Then we'd have a superb legacy instead of what seems to me to be the last 2 members flogging a dead horse.

I would suggest a restart as The Detours, but who am I to criticize the decision of these rock icons...
I totaly forgot to mention this is a great video...
The sound is stunning and what about those lines?

To the defense of PT, he is coming up with new material for the band - supposedly an entirely new rock opera. Heard this in a BBC feature on the recent Live in Leeds re-enactment.

I wonder how Norman Watt-Roy would have fitted in, instead of Pino.

Maybe they could go by The Ho now that JE is gone?!?  Seriously, Pino is incredible but it's got to be a different band altogether now that both JE and KM have *left the band.*  They could have at least gotten somebody who (no pun intended) is more of a power player than a melodic player, imho...

The reason I bought a bass was because of J.E.  The reason I bought an Alembic is J.E. played one

bsee

A fine reason to own one, but I continue to play Alembic basses only because they are the best.

Its a great extra to have. DVD's in the UK aren't generally as cheap as they are in the US and often extras are dropped to make room for additional European languages.  I wouldn't mind paying some of the inflated costs of DVD's here in the UK if I knew this kind of value would be on them.

Imagine having the isolated bass line for a Tower of Power, James Brown or Dream Theatre DVD? :D

I would love to hear the I.B.T. of Metallica's Master of Puppets album.
I think there's a downside though...
Don't get me wrong, I love this as a gadget but
I think you will lose some of the Magic in the music. The magic is being created by the musicians and the producer(s)
Imagine buying a mix it yourself music DVD in the future...
btw: I've paid EUR 22;- for the The Kids Are Alright DVD and I think it's worth every hard earned penny!

I thought both Peter Gabriel and Todd Rundgren worked on DVD releases with mix-it yourself tracks? I remember reading some hype about this 5or 6 years ago.

I wish more bands would give that option on their DVDs! I would buy them in a heart beat. Of course I imagine not everyone wants to have their fans watch them make mistakes on stage!
