When I'm asked about my bass and say Alembic people always look at the headstock.  I guess that word doesn't register.  I wore my t-shirt to the pub one night and a guy who plays bass in a Dead tribute band got all excited.  Alembic!  They're the best!

Around here we have lots of these huge Bass clubs with dozens of men and women. (They don't seem to spend much time at their music, though. They are always fishing.)
