I now own over half dozen acoustic instruments. I thought it was about time to get a dedicated acoustic amp (oxymoron). After much scrutiny, I purchased a Fishman Loudbox. Tri amped 250 watts 1 8 woofer 1 4 mid 2 soft dome tweeters. I think they may have discontinued them from their line but they are still available. It is one of the most musically honest amps I have ever played through. Since it is acoustic it has the phase switch to combat feedback (it works). It handles an electric low b string at a reasonably loud setting. It will sound like the instrument,it's fairly neutral in coloration. You are more than welcome to come over after work and try it. Hang out and jam, beer/pie.

Thanks for the heads up.  I just scored one off of ebay for $305.  (I think I got a good deal because the auction closed while the National League had the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.  Thank Marconi for radio!)  We've been trying to find the right amp with enough volume for my band's fiddle player.  I think this may be it.  The Harmony-Central reviews are great.

Barry,

Which model did you buy and from whom and for how much? I've found at least three different models, none of which with those specs. Closest is this:

for $1800Delivered/$2600MSRP!!!

They have two others @ $600/$800 Street, but they're different as well.

Cheers,

The Fishman Barry mentions is the original, now discontinued, model.   Here's a link to a write up on all of the models, including the one Barry has and I just bought.  The  store at the link is advertising the original at $449, but you'll have to check with them to see if they still have one.  They appear to turn up on ebay not too infrequently.  One sold on ebay on June 29th for $392 and, as stated above, I got mine last night on ebay for $305.  Good luck.

If you have a fiddle in the band, you can play in Texas.
