What tunes are you people working up for the holiday season?  The classic rock band I play in has a few corporate Christmas parties booked, and we'd like to work up (i.e. throw together) stuff people will recognize and enjoy, but won't necessarily expect...

Try I Believe in Father Christmas by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.  Maybe not that widely recognized, but it will be enjoyed nonetheless...

My singular 'holiday tune' is White Christmas as a stand alone bass piece.  It actually works quite well when I break it into a swing after the first time through.  Relatively easy and certainly recognizable.  Not exactly classic rock, but a classic.

After thrashing through most of the usual suspects over the years, the only one that's still fun to play and goes over well is Brenda Lee's 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree'.  Uptempo but not too fast, easy to dance to, everybody in the band can solo and fill, plus if your guitar player's any good and smart, he'll drop in that little sliding double-stop lick from the record, one of my favorite guitar accents of all time.  Plus, your sax guy can really blow on it !

Edit:  Sorry, my original post here totally missed the point.

You might try Linus and Lucy from the Charlie Brown Christmas TV special.
We used to do it and rock it up a bit. It always went over great.

Try UK band Slade's Merry Christmas but you have to have a gravelly voice like Noddy Holder!!!
They are all so cheesy but very apt at all the Xmas gigs..not my bag but we do get paid for those gigs so what the hell!

Well, I think everyone has pretty good ideas on the holiday tunes. What about a flashy version of Here Comes Santa Claus. The Elvis version wasnt bad but maybe incorporate more bass and a guitar solo?
