Stanley Clarke to Release First Acoustic Trio Album

With the May 12 issue of Jazz In The Garden (Heads Up), Stanley Clarke will see the first release of an acoustic trio album that he has led.
?I had never done an acoustic bass record, ever,? he said. ?There?s a long list of people on whose records I?ve played acoustic bass--Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Joe Henderson and many others--but I?d never done an acoustic jazz trio record of my own. So I wanted to record one that would just feature the piano and the acoustic bass in a way that you could really hear the bass.?

For this album, Clarke convened a trio with pianist Hiromi Uehara and drummer Lenny White.

That should be a cool CD. I've always loved Stanley on Acoustic Bass and he and Lenny were great with RTF last year.

Stanley has a very short memory. He brought out an acoustic CD with Patrice Rushen and Ndugu Chancler in 2006 called Standards. It also had a bonus DVD of the rehearsal sessions.

Maybe it is an age thing, and lets face it, he has done so much stuff maybe he cannot keep track of it all.
'Toys of Men' was 80% acoustic

Clarke is such an inspirational bassist whether it is double bass or electrict bass guitar. I look forward to purchasing that particular cd. In addition, the RTF reunion DVD is coming out about the same time and I really want to get that DVD. I had the chance to meet all of the band (except Chick)last summer at the Mann Music Center in Philly. You can see me on the meet and greet photos. I'm the guy wearing the bass clef shirt

I think this is true what Stanley says that he has never done any acoustic album as a leader before.
The Standards CD was released many years ago by another record label and I think Stanley was only a member of that trio. The package with Stanley on cover is a new release and this time Stanley was mentioned as a leader. I think this is a record company idea.
The same kind of thing happened with a lot of artist?s? pianist Paul Bleys 1974 album was suddenly a Jaco Pastorius album
