Been on the net and jammin' to their Breakfast in America record. The one track that is just so beautiful to me is Gone Hollywood. I can't get over the chord changes, interaction of vocals and arrangement. These guys are just f***I%$G brilliant!

I believe we share some nice music taste together, Adam!
Tom Waits, Supertramp... All stuff I listen regularly...
There is something about Goodbye Stranger for me.... I just love hearing that tune! Just as you said, the chord changes, interactions and that unique sound.
Yup, those guys are a huge influence for me. Thanks for reminding me of that!

Wow, that brings back some good memories, How about Crime of the Century-School,what a jam.

School is a killer tune, but then what Supertramp tune (up to and including anything on the Breakfast in America album) isn't?  Great stuff.

+1 for Crime of the Century

There was a period while I was at high school that I used to listen to that every day after school.

Take the Long Way Home and Logical Song. Two of the more commercially successful songs off of the 'Breakfast' album; but two of my very favorites!

Reminds me of the soundtrack of days -- that are rapidly becoming a long time ago -- when during the summer of 1980 I had about the best time ever playing original tunes, with some good friends and musicians, all while being in a very creative, musical state of mind and being.

Even In The Quietest Moments... one of my favorite songs. Could never figure out why it got so little airplay.

I loved 'Crime if the century'. Especially the track 'Bloody well right'. I used to play it at full volume at home to annoy my mum. Now I do it to embarrass my kids ;-)

We play a pre-service number every week at church. A few weeks ago it was The Logical Song. Was a lot of fun.

Mike,
Gone Hollywood would'nt be bad for a pre-service number either. A story of the rumour of a utopian place turned out to be B.S.! There's a moral to the story in there as I've lived and learned it and I'll be damned if I go back there unless I absolutely have to.

mikedm

Hopefully you won't have to. Thanks for the tip, we're always looking for relevant material.

(Sorry to have missed Zoso a few weeks back. Olie said it rocked.)

Graeme,

I always loved the heavy wah wah tone on Bloody Well Right.
