Wondering how many Alembic aficionados are US Military Veterans

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

Just took one of my Veteran buddies (& fellow musician) to lunch. For those of you here, we'll catch lunch another day, but THANK YOU ALL just the same.

I'm not personally, but I recall some Alembics even going out on tours (hm, same word, different context) overseas with some of the members here in years past. I don't know how many of them are still active.

Thanks for your service!

I am not (narrowly missed being drafted in 1978), but I'm forever grateful to those who are or have been.

Not me, but my father, and both grandfathers.  My great uncle, Lee, was a POW in Dresden who was captured in France.  My respect is very deep for those who have made these sacrifices.

I must admit to having mixed feelings about all this honor our veterans stuff.  I certainly appreciate those who have served in actual defense of this nation.  On the other hand, though, I am embarrassed that this nation has sent far too many young men and women into danger for reasons other than our defense.  And I am especially embarrassed and upset that while we pay plenty of lip service to honoring our veterans, in reality, our nation treats them rather shabbily upon their return.  The politicians race to get on the bandwagon to praise our vets, yet allocate far too little funding for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs.

There's no mixed feelings when it comes to gratitude for service to our nation. My dad is among the veterans (US Army draftee).

Bill speaks the truth.
For me and my wife we try to balance that reality with helping at the VA hospital in town, the Homeless Vet initiative in town - with food, furniture, clothing and volunteering our time.

I admire those people.

Special gratitude to Staff Sgt. Todd Cornell.

Paul, I admire you and your wife.  Your contribution is far greater than all the TV ball games presenting God Bless America at halftime/ 7th inning.
