Hi folks! I'm searching for any Alembic lefty basses that may be for sale. Not easy to come across but I'd value any other Club members assistance.

57basstra

Phillip, welcome to the club. Good luck on your search.

Don't know where you are, but I just saw a 5 string epic in a Music shop here in Chicago. It's a mom and pop shop, and I can find the name if you want. Lemme know. Joe

Hey ojo, thanks for your post. Could you let me know more about the store you saw the Epic in, particularly if they have a web address? I'm in Melbourne, Australia, so it's not convenient to look :-)

phillip

57basstra, thanks for the welcome and good wishes.

There's a nice lefty Stanley Sig Deluxe at Atlanta Bass Gallery.  Don't see many of those...

I bought my SCSD from them & they were easy folks to work with.  Good luck!

Here's the detail on the shop.

I also found out that they have a website (who knew?!?)
http://www.themusicstorechicago.com/Guitars%20and%20Basses.html

Coincidentally, you can see the lefty in the pic on the page.

I didn't ask what they wanted for it, so can't help you there. I've been in there a couple of times, and found the staff to be pretty good guys.

How's that?

Hey Joe,
Thanks for the website for the store in Chicago. I can't see any email address but will get around to calling them.
Much appreciated

phillip

Thanks Pas. I'll have a look.
Appreciate your time.

Hey pas! I had a look at the Stanley Sig. @ Atlanta Bass Gallery. WOW!!!Could you tell me a little about your experience with yours?Never having had a chance to play one,I'd really value your feedback.

Thanks, Phillip.

Hi Phillip,

I've had very good experience with my SCSD.  The neck is very thin & super fast.  The short scale makes playing in 1st position an absolute breeze.  I really love the side LEDs...how did I do without them previously?

I've had 4 Alembics, 3 with cocobolo top and/or back.  There really is a difference.  Sonically, the cocobolo seems to impart a very focused almost crystalline clarity to both the top & bottom ends.

I had previously laid hands on an Alembic short scale, so I had some idea what the feel would be like.  Because I'm in Virginia & the bass was in Georgia, I wasn't able to play it prior to purchase...so I really was relying that good ole' Alembic quality & they've never let me down.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your thoughts regarding the SCSD.Given the price and the not too healthy Aus.$ exchange rate at the moment, I guess the best I can do is look on admiringly :-).
Please let me know if you spot any other lefties out there, and thanks again.

Will do.  Good luck to you!
