OH MY GOSH....
I don't think you'll be waiting long- lovely bass and I love the neck laminate layout.  Wish I had the funds to pull the trigger.

If nothing is broken/wrong with that bass, your price is awfully low.

Bob,

I just sent him an email saying the exact same thing- your idea of posting it here is a good idea and I just reread his post to see calls only

Good deals are good to find, but you're right about that price being awfully low for a healthy Series I.

Yep - I appreciate a good deal as much as the next guy, but $2K for a nice Series is almost theft.  $3K would still be a good price that should net a prompt sale.  Beautiful neck wood, too!

Jeebus.  That's a once in a lifetime deal right there.  Don't jinx it for me guys! :P

Hi Ed,

The neck construction is so nice !
It seems like Medium scale for me.

But serial No. #2001 is not in the range of 1978.
Maybe it was born late 1981 or early 1982.
Please look fingerbord end and head.
1981 or 82's has the serial No. on fingerbord, 1978's serial is on head.

Previous thread here.  So how did this not sell the first time around?

I just spoke with him.  Sounds like a nice guy.  He's received a few calls; and he's hoping to sell at a better price than the one listed above.  No power supply; so that is a factor.  But the road case may add to the value for some folks.  He doesn't know the scale length, and he doesn't have the bass with him at the moment; so you'll have to wait on that.

I've played that bass and I know where it is. Been there for close to a year. I told the guys in the store where it's consigned that the serial number was off. The nut is weird as well, not brass and quite large, possbily ceramic. I've checked for signs of a different serial number but could not find any.  The store is going back to being an internet only business so I can't go there and check it out some more, as they closed doors a few weeks ago.
I have to say that through the 1/4 inch jack there was quite  a bit of noise; can't say how quiet or noisy it would be through the power supply,  so a trip to Santa Rosa may be needed. Nice sound otherwise.

Hmmmmmmm........thank you Alembic CSI.

With Valentino's report, maybe $2K isn't such a steal after all.  Factor in $300-500 for a used power supply and cable and $1500 for a noise control upgrade.  Suddenly $2000 is closer to $4000 for the buyer.

How much does a new power supply and cable cost?
