After going through my box of goodies, I found my hardly never used/mint jazz activators.I quickly had switched to axy and fatboy for my style and electronics used. At any rate, they are in great shape, and I wanted to speak to the Alembicians who have a perfect use for these.Pictures will be made available of course.
Thanks,
Marc

Hi James.
I have the pickups only, they are 95% mint complete with gold lettering. Alembic will sell the package of pickups, vol. pan,low pass filter @$1050. Most people are telling me that he pickups are worth over 50% of what is basically a board and pots. Understandinding thay're not new, what do you feel would be a FAIR price to pay?
Thanks,
Marc

That's really a question for Mica, at least in part. I don't think that Activators are particularly useful without an Alembic preamp. I'm not sure how great you do with an Alembic preamp and somebody else's active pickups. I'm not sure I would buy one unless I had a line on the other or a willingness to wait.

The question for Mica, then,is what it would cost to order a preamp vs ordering a set of Activators. You can charge whatever you'd like, but I'm just not sure I buy the idea that the Activators are worth more than half the package cost.

Let's not forget that Alembic products can generally be purchased through a dealer at a discount over Alembic's direct prices.

FC Bass

from the pricelist:
P/AE-1 - $825
2P/PVF - $1050
So that would be $225 for one pickup and pan control, so I would guess a single pickup would be below $200.

Not sure if there's a dealer discount for electronics, I'm sure there's no discount for added electronics on a new Alembic build. (you'll get a seperate quote for that)

On occasion in the past Alembic has had cosmetic second-quality Activators available and the prices were usually under $100 each. That's a while ago - so not sure about current prices or availability.

I believe that any item on the price list can be ordered for you by a dealer and that the dealer can offer you a discount on the resale up to the allowable rate. Same thing with preamps or an SF-2.

As far as discounting on a new build, of course there's a discount. You add on all your options for a list price and then the dealer gives you your discount off the total.
