What a gorgeous instrument. It has to sound absolutely mind blowing.

Maybe Santa will buy it and deliver it to me for Festivus!

It's a very fortunate thing that I'm immunized against GAS for that bass.

My wife would never forgive me.

Beautiful piece of work. Many 6er's look out of proportion to me, this baby is perfect.

Good luck!

I agree J_Gary, that one does look very nice indeed.

Rory, the seller, is a long-time member of this forum and a neighbor of mine here in Oakland CA.  We all watched along in the FTC section as this bass was constructed.  I suspect if it was a series he wouldn't be selling.

You know me to well and could you please turn your amps down a little? My little house has been doing a lot or rocking and rolling lately! I knew I should have purchased earthquake insurance when you got your Series guitar! I still remember the sound of your Series guitar from visiting your studio, wow was it sweet. No mystery on the sale of my six string to most of you who know me but the most important thing is that it is a wonderful instrument that needs to be played and not shoved under my bed!

I've seen quite a few stunning Balance K's, but this one really stands out as one of the most exceptional -between the stunning wood, the beveled peghead, and the extra cool custom electronics.

In fact, this bass specifically pushed me over the edge, into ordering my own Balance K.

If the neck was a little narrower, and there was ebony in it, I'd have been hoping I could meet your price.  Regardless, it's too awesome to not sell.

Serieshead or not, I can't grasp how you could let such a masterpiece go... but good luck with it.  I've not doubt that it'll make someone a very happy camper!

Happy New Year! Just like you love ebony in your basses I love the Series electronics! They seem to speak to me like nothing else. You are right on about one thing though it is tough to let it go! What a beauty! The neck on this is totally amazing and it can be played in every position with no effort what so ever. I am sure there will be some regrets if someone meets my price but who knows maybe a custom Series could be in my future! By the way thanks for the compliments and may the time pass swiftly on the build of your new bass!

Hey Rory,  why not just convert the 6 string to Series Electronics?  After all, you waited long enough for it to arrive new.  Also with a neck that fits, you must commits. If the bass fits....... and on and on and on!

I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Body thickness would probably prevent conversion to Series electronics. This is what I was told by Mica when I inquired about upgrading my Burl Maple MK to series.

Fat Boy pickups and a thin body?  What a contradiction.  It would be a shame for Rory to give up such a feel good/ good feel bass due to a lack of girth on the body.  Hopefully Mica can confirm this as it would be a good thought for anyone who orders a Balance K to keep in mind.  I share Rory's belief that once you have gone Series, there is no turning back.  Not that Anniversary electronics are a bad thing mind you (better than most other wiring out there and I own Alembic basses with them also). Thanks Ollie!  Still, if we can send Mars rovers into space, there should be some way to allow the conversion.  If Alembic can make that conversion, I imagine they would find a way to do it.  Perhaps an outbaord electronics center to go along with an SF-2 might work!
