Yea I noticed that too. Not only is he a crook but he's stupid too!

pennyball

Here is the receit i got from the seller by email, just wondering if the serial number matches Olie's bass!

olieoliver

No that is not the same serial number as mine. But I can assure you that the photo's on the ebay web add are of my bass. They were from Guitar center's ad on ebay from a year ago.

I bet Mica could shed some light on this serial number.

pennyball

Thanks Olie, deeply appreciated. I'll let you all know the further developments of the matter, if you are interested. As a lawyer I have an idea about the whole deal that I shall disclose when my multiple questions to the seller are replied to.

olieoliver

The Craiglist ad had the exact same photos but with a differant serial number.

troy

There is no real web site at the address shown on the receipt (www.guitarfactory.biz)... it is just a search engine page for guitars.  This could indicate that Guitar factory isn't real.

juggernaught

This guy is out of control.

olieoliver

I wonder if its' the same guy or do we have multiple schmucks out there?

I like the idea of having a world famous bass but GEEZ not this way.

precarius

Olie- How bout you sell me your bass cheap and I will take the burden of all the stress you must be feeling?
Mike

pennyball

Thanks Juggernaught! Actually the store seems real, just Google Guitar Factory Miranda. I've emailed them too about their receit.
Meantime the Toronto ad has been removed.
This story is unreal, and I've seen and heard many...

olieoliver

Mike, HMMMM well I wouldn't want to put fellow player through such stress, that and the fact that this is my favorite bass.

Andrea, this has been going on for at least a year that I know of.

The bass is a little different now. I've added custom knobs with LED's and brass back plates since those photos

pennyball

I'll be back tomorrow with updates, if any.....
You all have a good day.

juggernaught

Not entirely off topic, but he's also trying to scam a camera

troy

It looks like in 1999 Alembic was only in the 12xxx serial number range (judging by what is in the history request forum).  I doubt that 99MJ17671 is a real serial number.
