Anyone know what the trussrod cover on a distillate will cost? TIA

My guess is about $35 not including shipping.  I had made a similar inquiry a couple of years ago.

If it's just a brass plate, you may be able to get one from a local personalization shop.  That is if you'd rather have a cheap cover than the original perfect match.

I asked Mica this question 2 years ago when I was thinking of changing the cover on my Epic. She told me it would be $85.

Somewhere in the deep recesses of burned out memory cells, it seems to me that Val had said something about the fact that because of the differences between a neck through and a set neck, the cost for a brass truss rod cover for a set neck was more expensive than for a neck through.  Again, that's just my fuzzy recollection of a phone conversation from many years ago.  I might be completely off base here; somebody who has both a set neck and neck through handy might want to check to see if the plates look and seat the same.

It could be that some models are routed for a thicker plate than others.  I only have owned neck-thru Alembics and they seem to have had pretty similar plate thicknesses.  I know some basses had half-moon shaped covers and that not all covers are the same dimensions, but that seems easy enough to make sure you get one the right size.  Any plating would certainly drive the price up if it were needed.

It's not a critical piece of the bass, though.  A handy person might be able to get a piece of metal from a hardware supply store and make their own or even do something very attractive with some thin wood veneers or a small piece of hardwood.

I wouldn't suggest self-fabrication for a bridge saddle or replacement nut, but a truss rod cover seems safe enough if you just want something to cover the hole and look like it belongs.  I probably also wouldn't think of doing this for my '04, but it might have been the right answer for the '82 I once owned.

here's what Mica had to say on the epic cover..
The truss rod cover is $85, and has two pieces soldered together to allow of the bi-level contruction visible on the backside.

The plates on both my rogue and MK are a single thickness/one piece of brass so if the distillate can be a single piece, I guess it would cost less.

So without further speculation...

Mica, can you give me the answer? TIA

It depends on the bass. Not all Distillate basses are the same. Price will be from $15-45.
