Not surprising. Even for a beater, that was a nice price.

I don't think it was a beater, they were just closing the case and walking out as I got there, and the brief look said it was pretty nice.

Those guys had no idea what they were selling. I called the store early, it is was sold by 10:00AM and they opened at 9:00 There may always be an other, but not that cheep.

A couple of years ago, I found an Epic 5 in superb walnut on craigslist for $650.  I bought it and then sold it to the bass player in my band for what I paid.  Great deals are admittedly few and far between, but they are out there if you keep looking and have a little luck.
