I saw that this AM... what's with the 3 pin connector?

poor_nigel

Seems like a Series I by the price asked for it.  Looking at the back electronics plate, it is an LED battery plate, as no holes for pickup adjustment.  You guyz have good eyes to see things like only three pins and stuff.  That connector is a hole that cannot be refilled, so it lowers the value, IMO.  A shame someone did not trade up for a Series I, and decided to drill a hole in a perfectly good MK to make it look like one, instead.  Silly Wabbit!

whats the point of the 3 pin connector? any ideas?

Sig. circuit needs only 3 pins.

 1: sinals, 2: + 9 V, 3: ground

If the down voltage regulater (+18 to +9 V) is inside the body, the bass is useful for the series instrument rigs with custom 3pin - 5pin cable.

Or the bass is connected directly to the mixer without DI.

I guess it could also be a bass that is prepared internally for series upgrade in the future and the buyer making use of the socket to power the bass in the short term. Sometimes the humcanceller is within the body and not visible on the surface.

Alembic have built a number of Series instruments with AXY pickups (on special order). These would not need a humcanceller, let alone the adjustment screws in the back, but I presume the preamps would still need the higher voltage.

I'm trying to figure out how you can lay a pristine axe like that on a slate patio without putting a scratch on it!

Those are tiles, I've seen worse than that, on rough brick!
