Decent looking 1982 Distillate up for sale on EBay. 2 days left and no bids thus far. Starting at $1,800. It does have a crack in the body that's been repaired so it's not perfect, but this is the first one I've seen in a long time going for under $2,000.

I saw this as well and the price under $2K is unusual. My concern is the repair job? It looks as though the crack went straight thru. And from the looks of it the repair job looks a little iffy? I'm not a Luthier but I would probably pass on this one. She is tempting the rest of the Bass looks Beautiful and a big fan of Distillates.

I looks alot like mine.  If it were priced right..I'd buy it just for backup electronics.

But it's starting bid is still more than Mike's Distillate.

Just a few years ago it was very common for Distillates to trade around $1500. It isn't odd at all for the starting bid to be at $1800, especially since it is an auction. Add to that the fact that this bass has a couple cracks in it, and I am not at all surprised at the price or that lack of enthusiastic early bidding.

I didn't in any way mean to suggest that this is a can't miss Distillate or to suggest that it was a better deal than Mike's who was quite up-front about  the condition of his bass. The point I was trying to make was that in an era of people attempting to get $2,300-2,500 for their Distillates this one appeared to be in good condition and potentially a good buy.

I'm paying alot for my Distillate...but it's my only chance at owning one.  It does make my wonder what one would cost with no mods or shortcomings.(?)
