Alright!

We have a date/time and location. Ater much consideration and debate:

August 8th
11AM - 6PM
The Blackbird Studio
Parsippany, NJ
http://www.theblackbirdstudio.com

They are providing PA, amps (multiple guitar, bass and keys), drums, DIs, and an hour of recording at the end of the day. You can look at their website to see the particulars of which guitar amps and drums they have. They will be providing multiple Ampeg bass amps (hopefully 3).

We need to bring instruments, stands, drum sticks, etc. If we need a basic keyboard, I can bring one if someone brings a keyboard player. If you have a preference for amplification, probably best to bring it.

We now need a drummer or two (I hear that Keavin plays a mean drumset), guitar players (Bill, is it close enough for you?), keyboardists, AND A FIRM COUNT of how many Alembicians will be there!

If someone needs help with transportation, we can surely arrange carpools. It seems that pickup at Newark International (airport code: EWR) for flights coming in by 10AM on that morning can be easily arranged. If anyone is north, someone driving in may be able to do that pickup. Same for south and west. (Anyone coming from east probably needs airport pickup...Oliver?, Rami?)

Okay, yes...this is inspired by the Chgo group and long overdue.

I admit it, there is a bit of competition also. :-)

Can we get a ton of Alembics? Can we get a ton of players?

Offer up the count. Reservations are not required, but are strongly encouraged. Otherwise, how can we put you in for the following door prizes:

1) a slightly used set of strings (G is broken)
2) a 2006 9-Volt Duracell battery
3) a ripped, white, COTTON Hanes T-shirt (cleaning cloth)

I'll be there, with Angel,(77-630)my Jazzembic, and possibly a buddy on drums. I'll confirm him so it will help out our arrangements.

dannobasso

I should be there if not called to gig. I'm sure I could muster at least 7 or 8 Alembics, more if I can fit them.

Looks great so far!

In case we can't scare up a drummer, it might be good to bring some jam track cd's.

Drummers need to bring cymbals, since those at the studio are rentals and possibly lower end.

Wish I could make it - have a great gathering!!!

Hey Jimmy,

The studio is already booked for the day. If you need a ride in from some public line, let us know. I am sure that there will be more than a few instruments for people that are coming in without their weapons.

ok... i think this could be do-able for me. actually, what i wanted to present for this gathering was my alembic IN-2 module. anybody interested?

hg30904

absolutely...we should have the opportunity to check it out as a DI also

jet_powers

I don't yet know what my schedule will be, but I often find myself in and around Parsippany. I'm hoping to be in the area at the right time but will have other logistical concerns. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll be able to make it but I might have to leave the instruments at home...

I'll be there coming in from Long Island - if anyone needs a ride - bringing 1 or 2 early series 1 basses
