I am a 'semi-retired' bassist living in the Nashville area.  I've owned my red Spoiler 5-string for several years now, and it's my constant companion.  I still play every day, but my gigging has slowed to almost nothing.  Would hope to correspond with any of you about any of our like-minded interests here at this forum.  My best to all of you, and Hello to Mica, Susan, Mary and all of you 'back at the office'.

I'm unable to upload photos to the net at this time, but the Big Red Bass is a 91 Spoiler unlike most I've seen:  Omega body shape, Crown 5 peghead, deluxe laminates, Spoiler electronics, 3A maple top with mahogany body. More like a MARK KING Deluxe with the Spoiler circuit and the traditional pickup locations.  And of course, it's finished in see-thru fire engine red poly.
I found it (barely)used here in Nashville. At the time I was looking for a new bass and had found out what I'm sure most of us already knew:  Since so many of the other builders all use EMG or Bartollini, they all sound alike.  I came from a background (years ago) of classical music, and my Alembic was the first bass I ever found that was a 'lifetime' instrument on the order of a Steinway, a Selmer Paris sax, etc.  While I love the natural finish on most Alembics, color moves me more, and the Big Red Bass just spoke to me.  It stil speaks to me every day . . . PRACTICE !  PRACTICE !  PRACTICE !
