As you might expect, there have been a lot of questions about wood.  I'll try to get some of the past discussions up here.  But in the meantime, as suggested by one of our members, a very interesting place to get started is here.
 
Another member has posted something that may be of interest to some of you that are really interested in the technical aspects of wood; it's the Wood Handbook
published by the Forest Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
