Photos of my Alembic Persuader in Coco Bolo (I guess) and PJ Pickups. This is the Bass that I would like to exchange/trade against an Alembic with Soap Bar Pickups, either a Persuader, Spoiler, Stanley Clarke type or who knows... So, if you are interested, please let me know.

Gary the information that I have from the horses mouth is that my persuader is a Bocate top and not coco-bolo! Yours looks like the same top to me, have you requested details from Mica? John.

Bocate, wow that's some serious Coco looking Bocate! I would be interested in hearing what Mica finds out about it. The previous owner did a serial number request on mine, it is in fact Coco headstock and top laminate. The link is here: http://club.alembicguitars.net/Images/394/24376.html

Thanks for the link Gary, thats very interesting! The previous owner of my Persuader also carried out a serial number request and it came back as a Bocate top despite my own belief that it was Coco-bolo!
 
This is a bit of a mystery now. Both of our Persuaders would appear to have the same top but Mica has said that yours is Coco and mine is Bocate!!! I have submitted another serial number request and hope Mica can clarify exactly what type of top my Bass features!

That serial number request is for 86P4000, which is a different instrument from yours. There have been other basses posted here with bocate that looked a lot like cocobolo.

I know Adriaan, it is a different link than John's Presuader. The link for the 86P4000 serial number request is actually my Persuader. I showed the link to compare the top woods and how similiar they look. It very well could be Bocate, regardless it is gorgeous but I would be interested to know if Bocate is that close in grain and color to Coco Bolo.
