Welcome to the club.  That sure is a fine looking bass you've got there.  How do you like it?

Enjoy,

Nice Orion indeed! Congratulations, my first Alembic was an Orion too. Be warned: the addiction starts right there! After just 4 months my Orion has made me buy a girlfriend to keep him company...

Good luck & have fun!

The color looks very exotic; what type of wood is used on the top laminate?  I purchased my first Alembic, an Excel in December 2003 and in less than two months later, I had acquired an old Spoiler.  Now I'm looking for a fretless.  There nothing (IMHO) like a good old-fashioned addiction.

Enjoy!

from your remarks
1- i did good
2- is this 'speciali am not savvy enough on alembics to know- i do know that the grain uniformity caught my eye imediately
3- i guess $2650 new was a good deal
oh - I LOVE THIS BASS!

Like you and The_Mule, my first Alembic was also an Orion. I had a custom built Orion 5 made just a couple of months after I bought the first one. It's in this group under The Big Kahuna thread. Welcome to the club flaxattack, the addiction has begun!

no addiction here mule- i know my limits...
and my wallet- besides, now that i have the orion..
i can save for a boat!
however- since i work with stain glass and am going to start making an irredescent dragonfly to put on either the lower horn (small) or above the controls and let the tail go under the strings between the pick ups (bigger)
WILL NOT COUNTERSINK IT into the body- just place it on it
if i decide to countersink- will bring it to an experienced carpenter

i love the looks of the orion, i think i'd like a 5 stringer myself but with the Signature electronics.
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

Well, I was sure I knew my limits too. What a mistake that turned out to be! But I'm certainly not trying to drag you into that 'downward spiral', be strong my friend, be strong!

...must resist the temptation...
