Okay, I'm a G.A.S-oholic! This last week I've aquired 3 basses. 1st was a USA Fender P-Bass with Sadowsky pickup & pre-amp, including the VTC, Vintage Tone Circut. This is a Very sweet bass! Next is a Yamaha TRB-4II 35 scale, with an upgraded Bartolini pre-amp. A Very Big Monster of a Bass. And lastly I FINALLY have a G&L El Toro!!! One of my 4 Dream Basses. (Simple tastes, I know...)
Last night I played roughly an hour on each of these, and I was getting tired, and decided to put my New Toys away when I saw my Epic's case sitting in the corner. Hmmm. I guess another hour wouldn't kill me!
Once I plugged this Bubingan-Beauty in I had to wonder why I even bothered with those Lesser basses! None have the tonal variation, the ease of play, or the Mojo that this old Epic has. So I played the Epic for about 90 minutes, and called it a night. I was now Truly tired. I think I was just Bored before hand...
same happened to me when i sent wolf back for repairs, i picked up 6 basses. nothing sounded close. so i changed like every week, once wolf came back i sold all but 1
addicted alembaholics we are
As much as I love my alembics, I was having a play on my 1992 Fender Strat Ultra today which I haven't done for quite a while, and it still sounds absolutely fantastic. A different sound to my Orion obviously but it has an incredible sound that I'd find hard to do without.

GAS is re appearing with me again,, fancy another amp, nothing huge, no stacks, something with a bit of punch..will see how much money I have left over after all the Xmas gigs.
I have absolutely no inclination to buy another bass unless it was another Alembic. I went into a small guitar shop in the summer, they had a few basses, the usual stuff, an assistant asked me if I was interested in anything, I said I have a bass by the best bass builder in the world. when I told him he had never heard of them. I guess even after 30 odd years they are still so exclusive as not to be common knowledge.
MMMmmmm ...gas... this is a smelly area!
Love it!
