You need to see this up close. What great flames in the Ebony! You've read it a hundred time before, but wait until the finish hits it! This will be shockingly beautiful.

James did the inlay early on because of the laser LEDs. (Message edited by mica on July 18, 2005)
Holy S**t, is this flame Macassar Ebony? I've never seen such a pattern...and the headstock...OMG, that's beautiful. Can't wait for the final pics....wow....
Yes , this is my dream bass ! And it's such an incredible Macassar Ebony ! Thanks Susan for it !
Wonderful figuring in the top wood, this'll be a stunning example of Alembic's magical woodworking once it's finished!

Congrats Paulo!!
Stunning woods on this Paulo. Congratulations and welcome to the club.

Ok, many thanks for all guys ! The name of this bass is 'Rio .
Tchau !
That is the sweetest piece of wood I have ever seen! Best of luck with the instrument!

Austin
That is one dramatic and unusually-grained piece of ebony!! Congratulations. I envy you already!
Bill
I'm glad to see how nice this bass is turning out because I have a bunch of macassar ebony that looks very similar. Won't be ready to use for some time though.
I just love the chocolate-streaked ebony!

Hard to see at this angle, but it's the first shot of the back on the thread:

These pictures were just before we fitted the last switch, on/off doe the Laser LEDs and the last step of mounting the hum cancelling pickup (that's why you see masking tape). Hope you like!
Simply gorgeous! So dark, and still there's lots of flame - yummy!
... still I wonder how the ebony would have turned out with an oil finish: I really liked the colours in the shots at the start of this thread.
'Elegant' is the word I'd use to describe this bass. I love the way the ebony has darkened under the finish, and the chrome hardware really sets it off nicely.
Graeme
I can't wait to play it ! It's a great elegant bass !
I must say, although I'm not a big fan of the balance K, this is a very nice bass. It seems more full looking than other balance K's.
I'm exactly the opposite to you Raphael, I absolutely love the Balance K body, more so than the standards. In fact seeing Paulos bass coming together makes me wonder if the kids really need to go to college - the sooner they're working for a living, the sooner I can get my next order in and it's almost certain to be a balance k series 2.
Again, congratulations Paulo - can't be long now.

Thanks Jacko ! My new order will be a Rogue with SII Electronics, and maybe some custom inlay .
Congrats on getting Featured Custom!
this new bodyshape is really gettin alot of action,,,,,,wow!!!
This flamed ebony bass should be a visual and sonic standout even in Brazil, a land of many exotic woods, sounds, and rhythms. Congratulations Paulo!
