I wonder what the history of this bass is. Never seen one like this before. https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/alembic-model-spoiler-bass-guitar-1984-160-c-6844f24873?fbclid=IwAR25HU7HRFsKj6GSqX_INCslVNXIxQF8jKy2qvSvOqb2AW89yIhN0PoxHwg (https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/alembic-model-spoiler-bass-guitar-1984-160-c-6844f24873?fbclid=IwAR25HU7HRFsKj6GSqX_INCslVNXIxQF8jKy2qvSvOqb2AW89yIhN0PoxHwg)
I'll guess it's a rebuild. Spoiler neck, hardware and electronics, re-imagined body wings, complete with pinstripe layers. Looks like a decent job too. Nice attention to detail and symmetry.
I'm with Greg on this one as per the rebuild. The heel wasn't related to this body.
Makes you wonder what happened to the original bass to require this kind of rescue or remodelling.
Mega Omega?
Odd and unbalanced shape, doesn't work for my taste at all...
Please do not show this to Susan.......I doubt she would never let this leave the shop......an assault on Alembic's "style". ;) ;D
I kinda dig it. :o
Like Jazzy, I just kinda' wonder what prompted the work. We see fouled up Alembics come through here all the time, and my rescue-instinct always starts thinking; how can I fix that?
This probably isn't what I would have chosen aesthetically, but the work isn't really all that bad. Someone with a fair degree of skill did those laminations. Why? Hard to say.
I actually like the look of it. I'd rock it for sure.
I wonder how neck heavy it is and how it plays
Maybe an extreme case of output tearing?
I would turn it into a flying V :-)
Kind of Wish Bass Alembic...
