I would like to install frets on a Mark King fretless bass. Does anyone know a repair person in the NYC area?
Look up the Guitar Doctor on Long Island -- I want to say Suffolk County.
hey jose remember me? im the one you bought my fretless from!
If you're not in a hurry, Jimmy Coppola at the NY Guitar and Bass Boutique is a true craftsman. He rescued my old Jazz bass from oblivion. I've tried Guitar Doctor (thanks to a suggestion from KFS) but received no response to either email or phone message requests. Jimmy can be emailed at: jimmy@guitarboutique.com (mailto:jimmy@guitarboutique.com)
Good luck,
Rob
Maybe he's out of business, Rob...guy I played with some years back swore by him. Sorry it came to naught for you.
Steven Hayes at Steve's Studio in Colonia, NJ. His work is impeccable and he's about 30-45min. from NYC in Central Jersey (within 5 miles of Metropark train station).

Jeremy Perks at Rudy's in NYC is excellent. He services all of my Alembics, as well as other assorted toys.
KFS,
Please, no apologies. I've learned from your posts and had some good laughs as well. I appreciated your referral and just didn't want to see Bass4U go down the same path. Besides, I know better than to argue with the sheriff.
Thanks everyone for your recommendations. Jseitang-I remember you. Hope you're doing well.
Rob,
As long as the laughs were at my expense, we'll call it even. Thanks for keeping the Club's info up to date--I'm notoriously behind the times.
And while we're on East Coast fret wizards, why not call Roger Sadowsky for a quote? He asks $500 for a re-fret, so you can imagine what fretting a toothless bass would cost, but supposedly there's none more particular this side of Santa Rosa.
