just picked up this on
serial number is 95w9010
looks like a coobola top
anyone know how to confirm the model number

That's an Epic. We have a serial number reference guide (http://www.alembicguitars.net/support/reference.html#sernum) for decoding the model numbers.

95W9010 is a 1995 Epic with a Wenge top.
