Hihi, just a quick question. Would leaving a DS5 from the 1980's plugged in for an extensive amount of time damage the unit in any way?

It's actually healthier to leave it plugged in for forty years than unplugged for forty years. No problem at all!
What about leaving the bass plugged into a power supply for extended periods of time? Healthy/unhealthy for the instrument's electronics? I've wondered about this since 1977...

Mavnet, I thought of that one too. Usually I unplug between sets on stage so that no-one can trip over the lead and pull the bass over but if I have a long rehearsal or a full day't playing at home it's plugged in all the time. It would be interesting to know which is the best for the bass and the DS-5 for that matter.
I'd been wondering about this one too... I had gone so far as to think of ways to make my vintage blue box switchable. Nice to know I don't need to fret about it. :)
Edward, maybe a simple in-line switch similar to a desk light switch patched into the mains cable close to the DS-5 would be an easier option.
As Vince suggested, the biggest danger leaving it plugged in is the tripping hazard. Electrically there's really no issue.
Yay! Thanks, Mica. At a gig, I'll put it back in the case between sets, but at home the cable's not in a trippable place. Good to know i can leave it all plugged in.
