Needless to say, it was a great show! Stanley played his Alembic the whole time, except when he played his upright. The Spellbinder was on stage but...
I guess we're not funky enough here in the NorthWest...I really regret missing the RTF show,
Stanley sure keeps himself busy ...my hat's off to the man.
I bet Hal will be happy to know the Alembic is front and center.
back to practice,practice...
By listening to the trax it seems marcus is the bottom,Victor's the rythm,& stanley's the melody man. the thing i dont like is that there's no chicago dates!
Glad to hear that it was a good show. I think the tour is very light on U.S. engagements.
Keavin it was exactly as you stated. They were all team players. It was well worth the drive. The cd is awesome by the way!
Are they coming to the starved UK and will they venture out of London..maybe Newcastle..I guess not
They're even coming to Tilburg ...
Terry - you live in a dream world ;-) In the unlikely event of them coming to the UK they'll play 3 nights at the Camden Jazz Cafe then zip off to play the rest of Europe.
Graeme ;-(
jacko - oh I guess I am..never mind, maybe one day they might play at the sage in newcastle
That would be something - the sage (http://www.thesagegateshead.org/) is a fantastic venue.
I've checked the smv (http://www.smvmusic.com/tour.html) tourdates and they aren't booked anywhere in the UK yet - loads of european dates though - fingers crossed.
Graeme
Hopefully they will film a dvd release.
Sadly no dates in Birmingham either.
I've already seen Stanley twice this year once and the Jazz cafe and with RTF at the Indgo 02 so a hatrick would be good.
I'm trying to work out which of the european dates to go to. Amsterdam seems the most convenient so far as I have a good mate living there.
Jazzyvee
jacko yes the sage is a mere 35-40 miles away.
Saw John McLaughlin with Shakti Revisited, Herbie Hancock there.
A superb venue indeed.
SMV may be tempted!!!
I'll be seeing them tonight in Glenside
I'm considering seeing them tomorrow night (Wednesday) in Toronto. Any other club members planning to see them in Toronto?
Rick
Those of you who've seen this show; did you see any bass players in the audience?
No one that I recognized. I did see a few people who brought their basses hoping to get them signed by SMV. Before the show started, there were some who stood at the stage admiring SMV's gear. I figured they were bass players.
I'm going tonight in toronto. I'm extremely psyched. I've already seen stanley here with rtf and then caught marcus here.
Quincy; my remark was tongue in cheek, hee hee! When I saw Victor fronting his own band, early on in the show he remarked something to the effect of it's a bit intimidating playing in front of a room full of bass players. My guess is that it's like going to see the Steve Morse band, where probably just about everyone there is a guitar player.

He's up for it! Actually, he seemed very humble.
