I was just wondering, how do you get so perfect glue joints, almost invisible. Is it the glue or the pressure?

They also have a huge old press that stuff gets put into after glue is applied.

That was great to watch, nice to see how it's all done, superb thanks Keavin.
Welcome to the Alembic Forum Olev
What an awesome video! I'll enjoy this one over and over! Feels like I'm almost there!
Thanks Keavin, you da man!

oh I would I love to work there, I visited the factory on 25th Sept 2000, it was the day I was made redundant, even though I am from then UK I would just sweep the floors, make coffee, tidy up.
Maybe advise them on Occupational Health since that is my profession.
If you have a 'bucket list' at some point in your life then make a visit to the factory top of your list.
A very nice video. Thanks, funkyjazzjunky!
Oh, although, I would like to know, what glue do they use?
They use Titebond
Keith
Its simple - top quality planer thicknesers produce perfect square edges that mate perfectly...add good quality wood glue, clamps and ....voila!
All Alembics are held tighly together with good old PVA!!
Okay, thanks!

is that the same as Evo Stick's Resin 'W'?

Eh.... Graeme, I think the aforementioned Evo stick would do a marvelous job on the kind of pieces of paper that probably clutter peoples desks - but certainly not luxurious, lusterous hardwoods
It's a wood glue (http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Evo-stik-Evo-Stik-Resin-W-Extra-Fast-22030.htm) John. I use it on most of my structuural joints when I'm building something in the house. I also used it when I made my first bass, A fretless Gibson RD copy that's been kicking around the house since around 1978.

Oh , I get it...that will certainly do the business!
I like gorilla glue it is very very strong and also acts as a bit of a gap filler (essential when your woodworking skills arent totally perfect like Alembics - ie..mine!!!)
