I recall reading something here about a mod that can be made to attenuate the output level on the F-1X's direct out. My band recently switched sound boards, and now I'm overdriving my channel on the new board. I can dial the pre-amp volume back quite a bit to get a clean signal, but then my killer tone goes away

I've searched the archive with no luck... does anyone have any info? I assume it's a simple voltage divider kind of thing, but I'd love to see a schematic.

There are some off-the-shelf mic input attenuators available that will allow you to pad down the line-level XLR output on your F-1X without having to modify anything! One that I know of is the Hosa ATT-448 ($29 MSRP), and has a switchable -20/-30/-40db attenuation capability. Shure made one also, but I'm not sure if it's still in production or not.

I use a Radial ProDI (http://www.radialeng.com/di-prodi-prod2.htm%20target=_blank) which has a 15dB pad. (Actually, I have an F-2B so I use the ProD2 which has two channels)
