Is there anyone in the PacNW or elsewhere who could loan me a DS5 or a DS-5R with cable for some testing? I recently picked up a *gasp* Fernandes Series 1 copy, and I want to test the 5 pin setup before I buy a rackmount.

Or, if you have a spare setup and want to sell it...

Or, if you're in the Seattle or Portland area, I'd be willing to drive the instrument over for a visit, thus avoiding shipping charges and potential unknowable unknowns.

Plus, we'd be able to compare basses!

Dan,
Give the guys over at Bass Northwest a call. They may be able to help you with what you need if they have a power supply and cable in stock.

Pete

Already checked. They can order me one, but they don't have one in stock.

neyman,
Are you positive the bass will take a five-pin cable? The one I had took a three-pin cable, like a microphone cable.

neyman

Positive. 5 pin jack. From what I could find on the 'net they are wired like a Series 1, and the DR5/DR-5R will work with the electronics. I'm curious to find out if that is true.

And please, call me Dan (;^D

Bayou Cables recently started manufacturing Alembic Series cables (www.bayoucables.com). I recommend them, as they use the highest quality of parts, do impeccable work and offer great service. I'm an audiophile. I use several of their regular instrument cables on my Alembic Essence 6 and have been very pleased with their clarity.

OK, as long as you're 100% sure. I have a 1982 Series cable that has a short somewhere along its' length that I haven't gotten around to fixing. If you want it, let me know because I'll be happy to let it go for pretty much nothing.

Cool. I was looking at the bass last night when I replied, and it is a 5 pin.

Shoot me an email and lets talk.
