PU fitting system has 4 screws from middle or late 1975 (arround 75-200).
Older PU have black, brown, cream colors, but newer PU are almost black. (I know only a few  brown PU.)
This is 76' bass. Sorry for a bad picture.

Thank you Eiji . I remember seeing plenty of the old 2 Screw instruments hanging on the wall @ 60 Brady St. but I could not recollect a date of transition . Now it's making sense to me again; the pickup style on 76-544 must be original.

Between Mid '75 and '77 there were four distinct changes:
Pickups
Channel Bridge
Solid Brass Tailpiece
Dual Truss Rods
 
I believe they occurred in that order. Perhaps due to a surplus of parts, I've yet to see a four-screw pup guitar prior to '76.  
 
I'm not sure exactly when the channel bridge was phased out, but every '77 I've seen has the new style, same w/ the truss rods.  
 
75-241 was sort of a mystery because it had four-screw pups, solid tailpiece, and post '77 bridge. But once I was under the hood, it was apparent that the bass made it's way back to the mothership at some point~ the pups being original, everything else upgraded.

The Serial number is 76-544.  
It includes a power supply and 5-pin cable
I don't have the original case but it includes an SKB hardshell case.

The circumference of the neck at the 5th fret is 4.5.  The only scale i have is a bathroom scale and it says about 9.4 lbs.
 
The pictures that Eiji reposted are of my bass.

To many for me. That is about spot on for those bass though. The only way I'm going to get a 75-150 is to have them build me one I think. In a year of so. Keep your eyes open friends, for a 7.5 pound Short Scale Series one or SC or Brown I guess I would consider.

Thanks for the update David. We have had a nice discussion in this thread regarding the era of production of 76-544 and thanks to our awesome contributors on this forum we have a nice disclosure of facts there of . At this time I will state that I am currently not making  claims with intent to purchase 76-544. This is a beautiful instrument. David , I wish you the best of luck with the sale and my sincere congratulations to the new owner,

The change in 1975 for the pickup mounts seems kind of fuzzy.  It could be because there were problems with the molds or they were just using up what they had available.
 
75-200 is about right for the transition from 2 screw to a 4 screw mount.  But They used 4 screw mounts in the early 200's and then went back to 2 screw for a few intruments it seems.  
 
For example 75-215 is a four screw system and 75-229 is 2 screw!!!  Go figure.

76-544 is a beautiful instrument.
 
If I had the money right now I would buy it just to keep someone from moving the strap button.
