Hmmm..... seems a bit risky makes me wonder what condition the single coils are in if they were swapped out for the other pickups and what kind of electronics is in there too. Would the series electronics and hum canceller system work successfully with those pickups?

At that price I'd expect to just plug and play.

As the seller wrote, the original Alembic Single Coils were changed, right now there are 2 original Alembic Humbucker in the bass, working with the series I electronic. All the specifications of the series I electronic seems to work in order. The original Humbucker will be delivered to. He changed them cause of the typical noises of Alembic Humbuckers. This bass is from 1981 has a few optical minor issues, nothing going into the wood, usual for this age.

My Series has the embossed pickup covers. I wonder if the new pickups were part of an electronics upgrade?  A question worth asking. The fact that they are calling the original pickups humbuckers tells me they don't really know what they have.

Hi Jazzy, i saw another one over here in Germany, but i dont know if its still for sale. Also its not really a steal, but maybe there is room for negotiating the price: http://www.bassmarkt.de/bassanzeige.asp?bn=y&object=/Alembic+Serie+1%2Dbass%2Dverkaufen-55194

That looks like the same bass that I had posted in the photo above. One that I missed the boat on. It's not a steal either but I will contact the seller and see what the situation is with it. :-)

Thanks for posting that link.

Just a heads up. I'll likely be putting my 96 Baby S2 Coco Bolo Alembic bass up for sale. I've never really played it.

jazzyvee

Any photos? of it around the forum?

Hi Chris, I tried ringing the number today but got an answer machine in German so left a message. I can't understand German but if you do, can you tell me if the web site is amusic store or just a web site for people to list items they want to buy and sell. I wonder how I could verify that the seller is indeed the owner if it is not a proper store.

thanks

Wow that is a lovely bass. It was also a custom of the month.http://www.alembicguitars.net/info/ken_bass.html

Both of them are equally desirable however the Swiss one seems to have narrower string spacing and I do now prefer the standard spacing of the bass from Germany.  But we shall see what happens when I can speak with both sellers.

PierreYves, where did  you get the price of 6500CHF as it is showing 7'990 CHF on the web site?

As said on FB, I begin some negociation for the price, I have said ok for 5500.- CHF and the guy said do a little more. This base is for sale on this shop from 4 years I think.

The neck on the bass is Switzerland looks like a classic taper as opposed to the comfort taper. I believe these do have a closer string spacing. You also need to consider if you like the classic or not. For my 4-string short scale basses I prefer the classic taper but for my long scales it is the comfort taper.
