Does that Elan come with a fold over hinge at the nut cos it ain't ever gonna fit that case otherwise -).
 
Crisp looking bass that one, I missed out on a 4 stringer on ebay this summer.

I think the picture is misleading. The bass is held in a stand by the head and is off the ground. Case is flat on the ground.
It's one of them there optical dillusions.

strange enough;
when playing the Red Elan 5, it still looks 'real big'... very comfy sorta 'big'.
