I have a set of these and they really do nail my favourite Taurus sounds.I'm especially pleased that they record so well.I've heard various stories about them;that Bob Moog helped in the design of them,that the schematics are identical to the Taurus- minus the presets - and that they have Moog components inside,most notably the filters.
 
I can't swear to any of the above being true but I can tell you that they offer a very convincing bunch of Taurus sounds.I would never sell mine.Hope you find something you like,please keep us informed.

Thanks.  Still looking and have missed on a bunch of Taurus auctions lately (the IIs have gotten pricey and the Is are beyond any reason given the condition that they're in).  Except for the tuning problem mentioned in the listing, these seem to be what I'm looking for.  I'll probably try to get them.

Closed above $500.  Was going to jump in at the end but got left in the dust.  Seller had said that these pedals were going for under $300.  The market appears to be changing--demand is picking up.  Is everyone using pedals now?

My recommendation is to get a set of Roland PK-5's or a set of Studio Logic midi pedals and find an EMU Vintage Keys unit(which has great Taurus sounds). Those units are not made anymore but I'm sure you could find one on e-bay. It would be easier and cheaper to get and they would be far more reliable. I have a set of old Basky pedals made by Multivox which sound awesome(not Taurus sounds just good bass tones) but they became less reliable because they are probably 25 -30 years old and I have used them extensively on the road for about 6 years. Parts could be a challenge to find for a set of old pedals that need to be fixed and if there is some major work that needs to be done the costs could add up significantly in labor fees alone. I have both sets of midi pedals I mentioned above and they work fine. If you want more midi control options then I would get the Roland's but, if that is not an issue the Studio Logic's are cheaper(by about $200.00 I believe) and work great. You might want to check out www.zzzounds.com as I believe they carry both brands. Good luck!!!

Just to share my experience on the Taurus path...
 
I shopped for a set of Taurus I's and never found anything in my price range.  So, after a lot of research, I bought a set of Roland PK-5 footpedals and a Roland SH-32 synth module.  The SH-32 is no longer made but you can find a used one for anywhere from $200-$300 or so.  The PK-5's are like $500 new and much less used.  Anyways, the point is with this setup (or something like it) you have waaaaayyyyyyyyy more flexability with sounds and how you control them.  The SH-32 has two sub-oscillators, so it can really generate some amazingly great bass tones and much, much more.  Yes, the Taurus I sounds amazing, but it really only has a couple of good, usable tones to use and you do have to service and maintain the Moog pretty faithfully (contact points, for example).  Most people that find a nice set are too scared to even take them out of their home.  Just food for thought... for $500 - $700 you could get a modern bass pedal setup to start making music right now and still shop for a nice set of Taurus I's when it comes up on Ebay... for at least $1500 (from what I have seen).

David, the EMU unit I have is the Vintage Pro not the Vintage Keys(which is an older unit). The pro will have those taurus sounds you are looking for, I'm not sure about the Vintage Keys unit.

Thanks for keeping the thread going.  I saw the Crumars.  Condition is a bit rough but the price probably reflects that.
 
Did you see that a set of Taurus IIs went for almost $2K over the weekend?  It was a flip by a guy who had bought them for $450 in March.
 
After all the good advice I've seen here, I am mostly just an amazed watcher of the Taurus insanity.
