I was playing through my SF-2 the other night (used as a pre-amp and feeding my Eden WT-800) and it just sort of died.  There was very muted signal still coming through, but something had clearly gone wrong.  The green LED was still on, so the unit was getting power.
 
I read Mica's note in the FAQ about polarity, so I double checked to make sure that the adapter I was using was center positive--and it was.  So I don't think polarity is the issue.  Anyone know what the issue might be and how I fix it? Thanks!

Same thing happened to me and an input jack had failed on mine.Sent it back to the Mothership they fixed the problem and all was well with the world again.

If I remember right, they have a simple resister on the board that doubles as a sort of fuse and will blow if the wrong AC adapter is used or something else goes wrong. You can open it up and look at the resisters and it may well be obvious that it fried up.

In that post about the reversed polarity I point to a small inductor that will blow if something is awry with the power. Check that part.

Mica, so even if the polarity is correct(as it is), the blown inductor could be the problem?

Well the light is on but nobody's home! It seems sounds to check it. I'm aware you are using the correct polarity, is the voltage also within the printed range of 10.5-17.5 V?

Thanks, mica!  I'll double check the voltage, but I think it's correct.  Gonna check everything out tomorrow.

Hi Mica,  could you point me to the exact replacement part i would need for the blown choke?  I don't know yet that this is the problem, but I'm going to try a fix.  I just can't figure out which part to use.  Thanks!

It's a 47mH choke in location L3 on the main board. In the FAQ here but I see now that the hex tool I'm pointing to in the picture is not easy to see which part I'm pointing to. Sorry about that.
