Hello All!

I picked up a very nice 1982 Exploiter bass with the Distillate package, which I quite like. The treble boost/cut switch is very handy. Unfortunately, the neck has a slight twist, clockwise (looking down the neck from the body end) resulting in no relief on the G string, and a slight to moderate bow on the E string side. I find that if I keep the right truss rod nut snug, but put about two threads on the E left truss rod (maybe two full turns?) it get's the E side pretty close to flat. It's perfectly playable without any buzz or serious issues with action on the E side. My question is, will this difference in tension between the two rods result in a possible worsening of the twist on down the line? Logic dictates that, if anything, it'll help straighten the twist, but I thought I'd check with the community and see if anyone has had any experience with a similar situation.

A little adjustment never hurts, especially if it makes the neck more even.

Thank you for the warm welcome, and movin' my post to the proper place! I wasn't sure where to stick it so I went for the biggest target.

I figure I've not split the wood yet, and it's only a few revolutions on the truss rod, but I'm new to dual truss rods.

Since it's a 1982, I'm going to guess it's done all the twisting it's likely to do. If you've been able to correct it by torqueing (?) one rod, I say lucky you; keep an eye on it for movement but otherwise, roll with it. 

If further adjustments need to be made try using quarter turns and then allowing the neck to adapt for a few days before doing anything more. What I've found is that if I don't adjust in small increments and allow for time to adapt, I end up over-adjusting and then have to reverse myself.

I adjust 1/8 - 1/4 turn only at a time and then wait 24 hours and reassess.

I've backed off the 'rod a nudge and am letting it rest for a few days in between adjustments.
