could it be a resistor?

keith_h

Keavin,
It could be just about anything based on your description. However resistors are usually pretty reliable so it would be on the bottom of my list for causes.

Have you verified that the power supply is working?

Have you tried a different cable?

Did it just stop working or did it make some type of noise? What was going on when it stopped working?

It is hard to tell from the picture but are any of the solder joints loose or broken?

If it is related to the electronics themselves you pretty much need a schematic to be able to determine what is not working.

actually it just cut out in the middle of playing ,however i can hear white noise when i turn the vol knob......the last time ive been to Alembic was 1983 & ron replaced those two yellow resistors there in the pic ,so im speculating that might be the problem?

The yellow things look like capacitors. The resistors are the brown things with stripes on them.  Your best bet is to probably call Alembic. If it isn't a loose connection then one needs to know the circuitry involved.

Hey, it's just a bass, it ain't rocket surgery! Just go slow and work your way back from the output jack and you should be able to figure it out.

Good luck and have fun!

Problem solved after all these months, there was a loose wire & i was very reluctant to send my anywhere besides alembic, so i took it to a small shop here in the chicago-burbs and he found the problem, but he informed me that i should always keep batteries (hooked-up) in the bass which is something i havnt done in over 25 yrs,(ive only been using the power supply)...................Mica is it (or would it be)a problem if i dont use Batteries at all?

I was gonna suggest you check and make sure the headstock wasn't snapped off... I couldn't stop myself!!!

Keavin, I don't use batteries in my 72 Alembic either.  No worries.  I can't imagine why we need them.
