On another note, I remember someone mentioning that the Alembic strings have a tapered core B string. The two sets I picked up were not. Do they offer different styles?

We've only offered strings is full-wrapped versions.

Sorry Mica my bad. I went back and read the post and (dfung60) David never said Alembic strings were tapered core. He  said the ones I mentioned came on the bass had a tapered core.  I prefer the full-wrapped strings. With the tapered core I had to raise the bridge so the B string would not buzz on the frets. This made the E and A stings too high for my taste. The Alembic stings do sound great!

Hey Michael, I firmly believe if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'd stay with the Alembics. The more I play them the more I like them.
PS. What kind of bike do you ride? I've a Road King Classic.

I 've tried many strings also. Had good luck with  
D'addario Pro Steels if you like' em bright but I think I'm going back to Alembics too. Them seem to have the right balance overall.

Olie, we have a more limited riding season here but even today I saw motorcycles out on the road,heck it's 48.2 F outside as I write this- not bad, dress appropriately and air cooled motors LOVE cold air! ps we call them beemers the car guys call theirs bimmers :

Yes George, I call BSAs beezers too. I love them as well. I got hooked into BMW airheads in 1975 and have not been able to extricate myself since. Go to the AHRMA website (www.ahrma.org) and look for Michael Burke in BEARS and F750 classes over the last 12 years. I am now concentrating on music again with Flame Koa Essence, but still ride of course- Michael

Ya'll are right. Beezer is for BSA, and Beemer  is BMW and Trumpet or Turnip is for Triumph. I was mistaken before. But regardless of what you call it the main thing is that you ride it!

It is in Vanerpool TX right smack dab in the middle of the Texas Hill Country,best roads in Texas. I stop at this place evry time we ride the Hill country. The owner is from Australia I believe an is a super nice guy. If he is there when you visit he'll let you check out the shop in the back.

There was an article in one of the Motorcycle rags recently on that place- sounds great- Olie if I get down to Texas with my bike we'll have to hook up! Michael

If you guys ever head for the Gatlinburg/Blue Ridge Parkway end of the Appalachians for a ride, BE SURE to check out the Barber Museum/Track just on the edge of Birmingham, off I-20 (www.barbermotorsports.com, or straight to the museum, www.barbermuseum.org).  Simply unbelievable.  They even have bikes on loan to the Smithsonian and The Honda Collection at Twin Ring Motegi.
 
I thought the culture shock was big enough when Mercedes-Benz began manufacturing SUVs on the other side of Birmingham (Bubba Benzes!?!?), but this is REALLY something.
