I knew that once I bought my first Alembic, it wouldn't be long before I'd buy another.  Thank you Ryan for parting with this funky piece of history.  Zebrawood top, Mahogany body, Maple neck, Ebony fret board, Oval inlays, Schaller tuners, Completed 05/02/85  Ellery

WOW, That is one that is one good looking spoiler.
Those zebera wood tops are very sexy.
The Alembic addiction only gets worse.
I bought my first Alembic about 1 year ago, now i have four.
Mybe they could open a new wing of the Betty Ford clinc for these basses.
Best of luck and enjoy.

Hi Ellery

I really like the color and grain of your  Zebrawood.  The finish is beautiful to look at.  I know the bass was well cared-for.  You are very lucky (Makes me wish I still had my Spoiler.).  Congratulations and thanks for the pictures.

Beautiful bass and I sure do like Zebrawood.
If I could have two of each model bass and guitar, one in Zebrawood and one in Superb Walnut, I think my addiction might be slowed down a little.

You know, Sam, I'd even be willing to settle for having a coco bolo, a zebrawood and a superb walnut (one each in any model) to start with.  Not sure it would do the whole trick, but it would help my delicate Alembic condition (best described as unrequited yearning for woods and features I don't own!).

So I guess that I'm in good company, seeing as I judge that I have become an Alembic woodaholic.  And apparently there is no cure, only short bouts of clarity whilst I verify my disposable income (best described as money that my spouse has not disposed of).  I feel a little fretless comming on.

Thank God there's no cure!

Well said!

See that's why I have my Senior Management for those moments of clarity.

I don't care what it smells like, zebrawood IS pretty. Nice bass.

Does anyone have an idea as to what the retail price of the '85 Spoiler was when it was first sold in 1985?

I'm thinking they were in the $1200.00 range in '82.  I think a Distillate was something like $1850.00 then.  Don't know about '85.  Pretty bass..
