Just got this beautiful bass on Friday. Redwood burl top, curly redwood on back, macassar ebony fingerboard. It sounds as good as it looks!

What does the redwood/maple combo sound like?

Thanks Mike! Charles, I'm still getting used to the electronics, I haven't quite figured everything out yet. I was expecting a lot of highs to come through. I do hear the highs acoustically when it's not plugged in, so I know they're there, but my amp isn't letting them through very well. I've been wanting to get a new amp for a while, so now it's time! My favorite sound so far is with the filters set as low as they go. It has a really strong 70's bass sound, maybe like Louis Johnson. The filters are rolling off the highs, but there's still a lot going on to make a really great sound. I wish I could describe it better.

Thanks everyone! I've been playing this bass for over a month now and it's as great as ever. It took me a little while to get used to the electronics, but I've been getting some awesome sounds out of it now. Before, I wrote that my favorite sound was with the filters set low. But I've been playing a lot with the filters set to let the highs through, and I love that sound too. Guaranteed to cut through in the mix! I'm still not that great at describing sounds, but it's almost like ringing a bell everytime I hit a note. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
