If I recall correctly, the signature is a decal that was offered as an option on the Signature series for a while, since I've seen several basses with the same signature in the same place.
 
Beautiful bass, Kevin. I've heard good things about musical instrument policies offered by Clarion Insurance, and I believe that several members here use them for that purpose. From talking to them, their prices are pretty reasonable for large amounts of coverage.
