This is my latest but my dream bass. When I saw in club board, I fell in love with the bass.  Build record was not requested, but the wood is surely Koa top and back, Maple accents, Mahogany body. Top wood has flame and birdseye like small grains. SOooo.... NICE !!!   Ofcourse, neck is GRAPHITE ! The neck is fat and huge but not inconfortable feel. (My medium graphite 5 neck is very thin.)  Here are new photo in Japan.

Technical question: What is the scale made of? Is it Phenolic or Ebony?

Hi all,

Pierre, the sister bass is sweet too. I am also waiting further info.

Oliver, Harry, Paul, Thank you for your kind words.

Mario, I'm also looking each pieces with great pleasure.

Greg, The bass has short scale and Phenolic fingerboard with LED.
The fingerboard is very thick than my 5 strings graphite neck.

If I have seen the topic of Shawn before, I would have bought your bass...  anyway, I think it's on good hands. Are you member of this japanese alembic club ? Your pictures are the same...
YESS member you are !!! http://www8.plala.or.jp/alembic/gallery_toppage.html
do you play bass or is just for collector ?
Did you do somthing to renew this bass ?
Mine is going from one month (!!!) to the factory to change frets and additional things (change knobs, replace tone pots etc.)

Hi Pierre,

Yes, I am the member of japanese Alembic Fan Club. (There is the link to gallery page in my profile.)
I started to play my Dis-B from 1981.
I am not professional player in my carreer, but I continue to play bass with several amateur projects.

In fact, Now I own 7 Alembic basses.
But these are never in closet or under my bed, all basses (also Turner Model-2 bass,PRS fretless, Hamer B12S) are ready to play anytime.
I choice the bass which do I like better at the point (I can say in other words boom), or which the sound better for each song.

Each Alembic basses has each tone and playability.
I am very interested How about the difference another one.
So I'm still seeking best one. (but only one)

I surely said this bass is the best of one side. (I don't know how many sides are.)

There's something synthetic about graphite necks.

A bass with a graphite neck, is not just any bass, because It's a bass, with a graphite neck and you're cursed to say this every time you present your bass to others... But if attention your want, this Alembic with a the graphite neck, is very gorgeous too indeed.

I prefer only a wooden bass-ball-bat myself.

Peace and Love -

Hey Eiji:

This is certainly a jewel of a bass you got from Shawn.  If you had not have bought it, I certain would have jumped in line and made my bid on it.  I have always admired this bass, ever since I posted Shawn's original pictures of it in his thread.  I think it is great you have it and it is being appreciated so much.  Have fun and take care of you and yours.
