Here is my new (old) bass.  I bought it off of ebay a few weeks ago.

Brent, congrats on a very nice bass.  One picture looks like the nut is scalloped out between strings.  Nice detail.

Cool bass, great photos. Looks like you found a nice one, well done! How did you get so savy so young? I couldn't spell Alembic until I was 45.

Welcome young man, Gary.

Rich, Thanks a lot.  The nut is scalloped out between strings.  I didn't know that was different until I looked closely at some of the other basses.

Gary, thanks for the comments.  It really is a nice bass.  Its in great shape too.  Haha, I've been playing bass for nearly three years.  I started listening to guys like Stanley, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Jaco, and all the other greats very early. My parents are very supportive and know how serious I am about my bass playing and music.  I was able to talk them in to buying the bass with some of the money they would spend on my car.  I mean, an Alembic is way more important than a nice car right?

Brent,
How would you feel about your parents adopting a 32 yr old brother for you?

can you go ask for me?

Enjoy the bass and don't forget to tell Mom and Pops Thanks on a daily basis......

Very nice bass, brent! I talked my mom into getting me my first alembic when I was fifteen, but it wasn't nearly as nice as this. We're definitely extremely lucky to have supportive (and resourceful) families like we do (especially considering i finally talked moms into ordering me a classico!).
Congrats on a great bass and good luck, man!

Brent, if at your age you are listening to those giants, and flying an Alembic, by the time you're old enough to drive you'll probably be buying cars for your parents.

BTW, you have just murmured one of the more intelligent things I've ever heard a young person say.  An Alembic is way more important than a nice car. I see why your folks trust your decisions and interests.

Stay low, Gary

brent

Tobin, haha..i'm not totally sure that would work out.  My parents weren't too thrilled on the idea.

I really am lucky to have such supportive parents.  Hopefully i'll be buying them cars in a few years.

Austin, your Dark Star bass looks incredible. I've stared at it manyy times.  Must play and sound amazing.

Paul, I guess that means you're not getting adopted.  Oh well there's always the stocking.

marcky

On second thought, when I adopt Paul does this mean I also adopt his Alembics????!?!?!?

lachuh!!

Brent or anybody, I've heard it said that 70's Alembics sound slightly different than their newer siblings. Can anyone elaborate?
