Keith, beautiful bass you have there. Looks like yours (624) and mine (623) have the same birthdate

We both scored on these nice 77's. My 624 has a hefty size neck on it.

621 was 'born' on 2/8/77, a Tuesday of that same week. (you guys got the Friday)


I would love to see 620 or 622 to see if either of them share anything in common. The next closest is 619, a medium-scale guitar, with very light colored walnut like mine. It has maple accent layers sandwiched between the top and core, and the back and core. Fascinating, how each one in the line is just a little bit different. Like The 500 Hats Of Bartholomew Cubbins.

Thanks I've only seen reference to partridge wood for two other Alembic instruments, 76-569 and 76-581, both completed in December 1976, about two months before 77-623.
