Greetings fellow Alembicans
Have my eye on a used Mark King 4
Serial number is 03MJ3182
I'd be really grateful for any info available including the build sheet if..
thanks Mica!!

Tim, your serial looks like it must be missing a digit in the final part, as for 2003 it would be over 10,000 (the year and model indicators will vary, but the final number is steady as she goes).

Nice looking bass.  Based on Adriann's suggestion and the Reverb photo with the A-sting in the way, I'm gonna guess it's 03MJ13182..?

Hey Tim,

Congrats!  Great to hear this one is coming your way.  Hope you really enjoy it and it gets along well with its siblings.

Be patient with the serial number lookup request.  They tend to come in waves whenever Mica finds a moment to pull out the file drawers.  Post more pics once you have it in hand.  :)

thanks Jimmy J understood👍

by the way maybe I could ask-used to smaller body Alembics (Essence) and haven't seen this MK standard in the wild yet-any idea if this body shape is appreciably larger?
don't think it's as large as the Series....

anyway thanks again!

Looking at the various model pages the classic shapes appear to have an overall width just under 14" for a 4 string. For an Essence, that's 12" - so quite a difference. This is a classic Large Body, so coming from a petite Essence it may take some getting used to, also due to the longer reach to the nut.

thanks again Adriaan
I measured one of them at 12.5" so something less than 14" shouldn't be too bad, and I've got larger (bass) guitars.
might be a good shape for playing seated.
about 5 days out

Here is the old body shape page, I think these are to the same scale relative to each other: http://www.alembicguitars.net/info/bodyshapes.html
