Saw this on line, not sure if it's for sale or just someone displaying their personal collection, I suppose if someone was inrerested in it they could call and ask. Serial number 73-33.  The website says it's current 2016.

I knew I'd seen this before, I'm sure it's the bass that forum member Todd Harris used to own.

The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

I'd love to take a shot at that beauty but I suspect it's going to be listed at far higher price than that for which it was relatively recently sold.  At least that's been my experience when instruments are listed on sites such as this one.  Does anyone know if the current owner is a club member?

My Freyja ; 73-32 is my avatar .

And your 73-32 is one of my favorites, it's beauty!  :)

I tried to make an offer on the Reverb site, but it automatically told me it wasn't enough 'based on previous data'. It's a really beautiful bass, and I would so love an early Alembic!
Would it be in poor taste to ask what the previous sale price was? :-)

Don't hold me to this but I seem to recollect that the selling price was several thousand dollars lower (as in 2-3 thousand dollars or more lower).  But than again my memory gets more and more spotty as i age.

That bass is amazing. I sold it to Craig Brody of Guitar Trader.

Well, I took the plunge and am now the caretaker of Alembic #33.
Craig Brody worked with me very generously and made this purchase possible. I was hesitant to even ask about the bass given the name of the shop was Guitar Broker, but he was very accommodating and flexible.
For someone fascinated with the early history of this amazing company, I couldn't resist the temptation of owning a very early example of their groundbreaking work.
It needed a neck adjustment and the electronics, while quiet, need some TLC, but overall I'm ecstatic with this bass. It has a beautiful feel and plays like a dream. I count myself blessed to have this bass in my little collection.

Glad to hear ol' #33 has found a new home. I love the old ones... couple years ago, I was five minutes and a phone call away from #73-39. Wasn't to be, but as is often said here, there will always be another one.  ;)

Congratulations, that's a beautiful bass!

Thanks guys.
I feel your pain about missing that bass. That's what prompted me to jump on this bass. Thankfully it all worked out, and I know you'll find one that speaks to you!
